III. Credo
Gospel Mass
The third movement of the piece is “Credo” . . . literally, “I believe”.
Here is how belief is realized for our organization the New Rhythm Arts Collaborative (NRAC) in general. https://newrhythmarts.org/our-mission
NRAC is not new and has been working in the music education/production space going into its 10th year in 2024. Founded under the vision of Alicia Oloroso Hempfling and Thomas Hempfling, it has made available a wide variety of music making opportunities on the North Side of Chicago in Rogers Park. These have helped a lot of people access both music instruction and performance in an area where many residents don’t have access to music making because of affordability.
Alicia and Tom made the difficult decision to retire from this work of leadership for NRAC last year. As our board has worked on the transition, we made the decision to move our attention to a location that is also in need; but not just because of affordability. The south side of Chicago has long been underserved in proximity to Art music making opportunities for a very long time.
I and many of my mentors and friends can remember a time when this was not so much the case. But today we are literally a desert where an unacceptable level of access to Art Music is the case. NRAC seeks to work on this problem and implement solutions. Please read our Mission page and see whether you can be onboard with our work. https://newrhythmarts.org/our-mission
If you can, please buy a recording our 2023 project and support our work by helping to cover the costs of production. https://newrhythmarts.org/gospelmass
Be moved by the call to believe In something bigger than yourself this day as we move into the season of Hope.
